Pool Resurfacing Costs – At some given time, all Gunite pools will require resurfacing. The average cost to replaster a Gunite pool, at today’s prices, can reach $5,000 to $6,000.
Time Involved – Gunite pool installations, if properly performed, take much longer to complete versus the installation of our Fiberglass Pools.
Sub-Contractors – Most phases of a Gunite pool installation are performed by different sub-contractors. The more subs involved, the greater the opportunity for shoddy workmanship and structural or performance failures.
Expansive Soils – Gunite pools are not the greater choice in expansive soil conditions. Their inherent rigidness within the surrounding soil does not allow the flexibility to prevent cracking as does our Fiberglass pool shells.
Alge – Unlike our fiberglass pools, alge can embed itself into the plaster walls of a Gunite pool due to plaster being a porous material. If an acid bath is required to rid the alge from the Gunite pool, this process will further roughen the plaster surface.
